House Bill 4513

House Bill 4513 is legislation connected to House Bill 4512 that changes income tax laws to make an operation to hook up Bitcoin mining operations to oil and gas wells more viable.

The full bill can be seen here:

The Michigan Bitcoin Trade Council is SUPPORTING House Bill 4513.

Why?

The Michigan Bitcoin Trade Council supports House Bill 4513 because it makes House Bill 4512 more viable by changing income tax rules to make an operation to hook up Bitcoin mining operations to oil and gas wells more viable.

House Bill 4512 would make energy systems more efficient, taking excess gases that are escaping into the atmosphere and allow that energy to be used to mine Bitcoin.

Reforms like House Bill 4512 and House Bill 4513 are important because they show how Bitcoin creates efficiencies in society. The runoff from orphaned oil and gas operations seeps into the atmosphere, causing environmental damage and an increase in carbon emissions.

Hooking these operations up to Bitcoin miners will help the environment and cause more economic productivity that can help the state's economic viability. This is a win/win legislation that also helps to dispel the false talking point that Bitcoin is bad for the environment when the reality is in fact the opposite.

House Bill 4513 would only be eligible to become a law if House Bill 4512 were approved first.
